Westport 5/26

Post by AvgJoe »

Met Poison Ivy Dave early this morning at Westport launch for a salmon hunt. It was solid fishing action and we ended up with double digit fish count and more salmon than lakers.

The surface temps were just under 60 degrees and fish were caught on riggers, leadcore, and slide divers. Everything fired.

What do think of the laker, genetic abnormality or old wound dorkfish? Either way it was feeding and appeared healthly.

Sounds
Like some promising results. Should be great intel for the Rotary… Thanks for NOT posting exact locations. 😂

IMHO the that fish shows how resilient they can be. Bet that mouth was broken when it was a young trout and it is still in the hunt… when they are young the mouths are more soft and can be damaged. (Especially salmon)

Would be great to hear other folks opinion on this fish..

Sounded like a fun day, Joe! I started in Converse and kept on trolling south trying to find salmon. Could have almost seen you guys further south as I wasn't far from Westport. Cut over to Snake Den and trolled up the NY side, back over to Town Farm and back to the launch. Landed 9 lakers and never saw a salmon. Had a pig (laker?) on off Thompsons but the hook pulled before I could get a look at it.

Surface temps were all over the place. 53 in Converse, 64 in Town Farm.
