Pittsburg NH 2023 Big buck hunting

Rented a 6 person lodge from Nov 8-19 to try to locate and
Bag a big buck in n 2023.

Brother and I arrived on Nov 8th and have hunted 10hr days since being here. Lots of sign and action. Bother missed a buck yesterday chasing a doe.

Today we hunted a hill with 3 different bucks in it all over 170lbs….. crazy. Biggest was prob over 225lbs clean dressed! Today at local store there were 2 bucks weighed in over 200lbs… On a Monday:)

We have hunted hard but need cold… and it looks to be warming:( It has been 20-40 and minimal 1_2” of snow. 6” would help!

More to come as we get work more if the area. Focused mostly on the west side indian stream rd… so far.. lots of clear cuts with good sign. Buck to doe ratio looks

We are still here chasing bucks…
Day 8 warmup and loosing snow….

Found a good track at 9am and dogged till
3pm never saw him:(

Gonna loose snow tomorrow but Joe is gonna show up
Mid day so hopes are high!

Did you guys have any luck up there, Matt? When those big boys are marching it's almost impossible to catch up to them. They can cover some territory!

No out of state hunting for me this year.

no tags filled. Brother missed a buck chasing a doe on 1st Sunday. We saw more deer the more hunters were in the woods. Mid week the sightings were very low. Think hunting November 8-19 with little snow was a little
Early for the big action up there. Felt like the big bucks were locked down and we only saw em between does…

Funny thing is my brother shoots a good buck every year. Wasted 1st week of vt hunting NH and come back and shoots this 178lb 8pt on Monday after we return. Same area 181 lb 8pt from last year…. Said he was headed home to hang a buck, guess he wasn’t shitting:) these are pics of his 2 8pts from the last 2 seasons in Montgomery…


Lots of sign, runs, rubs and scrapes that reminded me of Kenora Ontario. We will be back:)

By the end of 11 days and 10
Nights we were ready to come home. Great to have AveJoe stop up to hunt the last 3 days… I had lost my hot seat on day 6 and had to drive to colbrook NH for a replacement that really just was a piece of junk. Joe found my hot seat on a trail we sent him in on day 9 and brought it back!!! Thanks Joe!

We will be back later in season to try to get tracking snow for every day. The lodge on middle pond was the highlight!


Next year I will need to add 2 people to this trip to fill out the lodge properly and get a better poker game going:)
