Been a few weeks since I’ve had the boat on Champlain.
Launched Labor Day from Converse to flat water. Motored to split and started the troll… we we started with a slow bite. 1st salmon came as we approached the Boquett at 75 down over 160fow. After the ice broke for us we started picking away at salmon and lakers.
Thermocline was deep, most of our action came from 80 down, with the biggest salmon on the day Comming on a custom taped Homewrecker red and gold spoon. This has been a heavily hitter since Dean left it aboard earlier this spring:)
Menu today consisted of White Castle burgers on the grill:) Then Jon busted out a pre smoked set of baby back ribs that were just amazing. The bark had a bite that was very tasty.
The best action was in front of willsborough bay as that was as far north as we got. Over 40 miles on lake covered on our 10.5hr marathon tour. The time flew so fast we didn’t even know it was 4pm.
Thanks for another trip full of stories and laughs. It was just what the DR ordered:)

Re: Labor Day lake tour
Nice to see somebody had some luck yesterday, sweet fat bellied male you guys got! I took the Mistress and wife for a Labor Day cruise with a fishing stop or two along the way with nothing over the rail. Launched at Guillmette access (Sandbar) and drove over the the west side south to Valcour and back up to Pelots for lunch at Drifters then up through Alburgh narrows and back south to sandbar.
55 miles worth of gas $48.—
Drifters lunch tab $52.—
Happy wife PRICELESS
Can’t wait for the fall bite!

Re: Labor Day lake tour
nicely done, that is one big fat salmon !
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !
