Hudson River with Captain Will

Post by C-Hawk »

I just had a great striper trip on the Hudson with our own, Captain Will Nolan. Boated 14 , including a nice cow at 41 inches and around 35 pounds

Water temperature yesterday was 53.2 , the river is muddy looking, from all the rain showers the passed few days, the river temperature was up to 56 degrees.a week ago or more. It's hard getting herring, but things are going to get better looking at the 10 day weather forecast.
Yesterday we sat through rain showers, then the sun came out, then a big black cloud pounded us with hail the size of BB's ,we couldn't get a live herring, but had some cut bait.
Fed a few cat fish, then a reel started screaming, and my partner boated this 40 1/2" striper, that was # 21 for the run so far.
This striper swallowed the circle hook, so we cut the leader off as short as we could, and got her back in the river ASAP.

River temperature 51 degrees today when we left. Seen a couple striper's landed, herring is VERY hard to get, I am going to make a long run up the River tomorrow, just to see if things are happening up that way. We boated 2 and had 4 runs today, the biggest was 40" the other 34"
