The Browns win Sunday football fest.

Hit the southern lake wit Zeb and Dave Adams Sunday. The blow over night was supposed to set down by 5am so we were at the launch shortly after 6am. When we pulled up the swaying trees and roar of the wind gusts made us rethink plans. We decided it wasn’t safe to launch in this Gail and waited, and waited… setting up the boat was done at a snails pace and by 8am it had finally dropped below
Gail force winds enough to wanna launch. We motored over the NY side and started picking at the salmon there. The bit is still strong and the depth and colors are similar to last week even though it blew for 2 days. water temps are now around 44 deg.

Today’s trip was marked by a pair of brown trout. Both noatably showing more fight than some of the simmilar sized salmon. These fish look healtly, just wonder where they have been all year!!

Menu consisted of hot dogs followed by fresh vennison done properly rare, melted in your mouth.

We did more searching today than pounding the hot areas. Trying to expand the bite brought the browns in a slightly different position.

Many boats out today, there was even a 35ish foot carver with a flybridge in the fleet who wanted to play.

Good seeing Dilly and the Country angler out there with an all kids crew slammin the salmon!

Don’t wait till the next trip. I got a feeling this is all over the lake and will be much farther north next time trying to scout for a closer bite:)

Marked a really wierd thing in the graph. We discussed that it is what champ may look like on a graph as it would be so big it may block everything under it from being sampled.We did pick a salmon off it was we passed. You can see one rigger come up to be reset after the strike. Anyone me have any guesses what the sonar pic shows?

I've noticed the NWS weather reports have been increasingly unreliable the last few weeks. Not sure what's going on.

I can't tell you what your sonar hit in the screen there, but I bet there was in fact something strange. I used to see lots of stuff on traditional 2D that I thought was noise, or a malfunction, or some other ghost return. Or a blank screen wasn't accurate. But, over the years I've gotten better at reading it all, and more importantly, using different frequencies and types of sonar to look at the same anomalies you come across on the screen. Down scan, side scan, livescope, etc. Your sonar saw something. With Garmin, you can switch type and go back in history and look at stuff. We saw something weird in bulwagga a couple of years ago on 2D, went back and looked, and it was a 200' long shipwreck barge clearly visible on the sidescan.

Here is a 2d sonar pic and the same on DI. If it wasn’t for the down image pic I wouldn’t know for sure if it was all baitfish. With DI you can actually see the individual baitfish. They are Alwives. The top disturbance was from a boat that had powered across in front me. It’s the turbulence from his outboard.

Interesting post. If there is one thing I would choose to improve on, it would be to maximize my knowledge and abilities in regard to reading, adjusting and analyzing my Fish/Depth finder's capabilities. I currently have a Lowrance Hook 7x as my main F.F., an older b/w screen Hummingbird with separate GPS unit @ the helm and a Lowrance 5 @ the stern.
I know there's so much more to get out of the technology. I know that a lot of it comes from purely, "playing around " with it, but I am sure there must be some "Absolute" settings and/or adjustments that could improve and quantify my strategies and chances.

If you don't mind, could you expand a bit on your "Further North" theory? Are you talking Colchester Reef, Outer Mallets Bay, etc.?
