Might as well share a pic of my last fall NH rifle buck. 20" wide 190# 8 pt. Shot him in his bed in 25 mph winds speed hunting to the top of mountain where I'd been after a big 10 pnt. 2.5 miles from the the truck. Relatively easy drag tho in the leaves straight down! A little luck was with me on this 1. Cruising up a shear vertical I came up to a familar shelf, poking my head up to scan on my final glance to my hard left I saw large main beam and nose potruding past a split juvenile scrub hemlock. In pure reaction, know the wind was blowing straight at him I pulled up, leveled inbetween the 2 trees and fell on his ear base sqeezing the trigger. The rack and nose dropped! As I covered the 75 yrds to him, 2 mature does bolted from their beds, 50 yrds below his. I realize in this particular instance,
if I had been still hunting as I usually do, they would have busted and I may never have seen him
