Winooski 3/24
Winooski 3/24
Last weekend, I clean the boat (clean the mess of January 7th). My daugher has inspected it, it was ok.
But she forgot to check the lights...
This morning, while I was driving to pick up my friend Benoit, police was after me. With his flash light, he came to see me to inform that my trailer lights was not working. Thanks to him, he let me fishing.
We arrived at the Winooski ramp at 6:30, the first fishes were entering the boat very early
And then to many others...
And I don't forget this one
Well... they broke 1 rapala, 2 hooks.
Forgive me, I put the biggest fish in the boat, it broke the hook and return in the water before I had the fish in my hand... no photo... maybe more than 10lbs... I kept the hook to prove it
I think they liked to be in the 13-14 feet of water when surface was 43-45, they liked all our rapala when they were swimming at 1.3 - 1.4 MPH at 6-10 deep. We kept 4 fishes, put back in the water 7 others, and 4 have decided to spit the rapala when they saw my face.
And guess what ? I have a tendinitis of the wrist... I couldn't focus on the pain while I was fishing, too much fun to be back on the water again

Great looking Fish and great report!
But it reminds me of the age old belief that the only thing that works this time of year is sticks. You certainly can catch a great number of fish on sticks ... all year as a matter of fact!
When the fish become more aggressive, the hassle of dealing with treble hooks on fish to be returned makes it less enjoyable. But change out a #1 or #2 Siwash with a #4 split ring and a #6 Eagle Claw Treble on a Small Honeybee or MP6 and all of a sudden the sticks don’t really stand out as so special!!
As a matter of fact, every spring, while living on the South Shore of Lake Ontario, most of my friends (and others) learned this little trick and one treble is a lot easier to deal with, in a net, than 2 or 3 especially if the one is already in the fish’s mouth. Try it … you’ll like it.
Ludo, nobody has any trouble understanding you or appreciating your openness and excellent reports. /Jim

Ludo,
Nice report! Those are nice looking lakers. The mouth of the winooski and north to the fill can be some fast action on lakers in this early season before they head into the deep.
