Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Great looking setup, Esad! You did a nice job.

Along with John’s question, what would folks recommend for a mount if I don’t have a glass windshield? My plastic windshield wouldn’t hold up to that. I’d like to find a good mount that I can screw down.

Congrats and thanks in advance!

Re: Rod storage from launch to troll

Not sure if you have a splash well, but I just have PVC tubes across the splash well for holding rods. They work great and the rods are vertical so there is no chance of them slipping out when under power.

Re: Lead core setup

I'm using a skinny version of lead core, and I couldn't get the Willis knot to work. The double-Uni that Dilly posted works perfectly. I bought 1 - 10 color spool and setup 2 - 1 color rods (~5' deep), 1 - 3 color (~15' deep) and 1 - 5 color (~25' deep). Now I realize I only really use lead in the s...

That’s cool, Matt. I didn’t realize you could buy them already setup with shrink wrap.

Re: 1st Brown of 2024

That's these releases with shrink wrap over the backside of the clip. It's all I use for planer board releases. You can probably find them cheaper if you shop around.

Thanks for the invite and great time, Matt! Beautiful winter day out there with you and Joe, and plenty of fish and food.

Till next time.

Re: Pittsburg NH 2023 Big buck hunting

Did you guys have any luck up there, Matt? When those big boys are marching it's almost impossible to catch up to them. They can cover some territory!

No out of state hunting for me this year. :|

Re: Lake trout Vermont side

If by "Vermont Only" areas you mean areas that can only be fished with a VT license, then I would say no. The inland sea has a few, but they are few and very far between. If you mean the VT side of the lake, there are lots of good areas. One of my favorites is around Colchester Point. Laun...

Re: Frostbite derby

Sounds good to me, Pat! I'm Shaun, btw. We can exchange contact info, etc later on. I'll try to shoot a deer or 2 beforehand so I don't get TOO stressed out about missing a day of hunting :D .

Re: Frostbite derby

Point Bay is the one on the Town Farm Bay side of Thompson's Point. I don't have any hunting trips planned this year so I will be around. If anyone is looking for a partner, let me know! I'd be glad to join you. My boat is NOT setup for Frostbite fishing since it is a center console with almost no c...

Re: Lake O brief summary 2023

I know all about that, Pat!! I was standing in the back of my buddy's 26' Thompson with 10' beam cranking everything in because it too rough ... and looked UP at the wave coming in on us! Wow. I wouldn't have wanted to be in anything smaller, that's for sure. I've been going over every year for a we...

Re: Lake O brief summary 2023

Nice one, Mistress. I'd say around 18-20lbs. We caught several that size this year on my annual trip (during the blows of August, of course ... couldn't fish for 3 straight days with waves up to 13'!). Also landed one beauty that was 24lbs. Funny thing is I've weighed a lot of salmon and never once ...
