Re: Inland Sea

I was out there last night as well and caught 1 small salmon that was quickly released and 6 or 7 perch. Nothing big ... 1 white and rest were 7-8" yellows. I was trolling 2.7ish, 55-65' down. They really seemed to like my son's new fly he tied, running behind a 000 silver dodger. I told him at...

Thanks for the info, bigfish. I assumed they ran the St.Lawrence.

Re: Economics 101: 4 riggers vs. 2 riggers.

Here is Capt Ernie's website. He is a Lake Ontario charter captain. He has a nice blog on his website that I've read through in the past when planning on heading out to Lake O. Atlantics are not "common" on Lake Ontario, but they do catch them. They are true Atlantic Salmon, not Landlocks....

Re: Stave 7/5

What a bummer, Brian! At least you know he's still out there to be caught again.

Re: Cheater Questions

Todd, how do you attach your fixed cheaters? I've tried rubber bands before, and they seem to work Ok.

Re: Cheater Questions

Not sure if it's right or not, but I tend to leave a little more "slack" in my main line when running cheaters. My thinking is that it will force it to stay more in the middle of the main line. I use 4-5' cheaters and haven't had any tangling issues, unless a fish runs another line through...

Re: 'Magog?

Thanks for the info, browntown. Are there walleye in 'Magog now? Or do they move nord of the border as well? Will certainly consider Salem, as that's another lake I've never been on.

Thanks!

Re: 'Magog?

I was wondering about that, Matt, since the Vt side is so shallow. I know it's good laker/salmon fishing through the ice, but didn't know how long they hung around. May have to do some bass/pike fishing .... or head elsewhere.

'Magog?

Anybody on here fish 'Magog at all? I'll be in Lyndonville for the 4th of July weekend and will be bringing the boat (of course!). Usually fish Willoughby, but apparently we go there for the view and not for the fish because we have yet to catch anything there on open water! Thinking of trying Magog...

Re: HOT fishing on Caspian

Yeah, I believe it is only 1 line / angler. With "cheaters" you can get 2 lures. We fished it last year for the first time in open water and didn't have any luck. Marked lots of fish and had a few followers in ~80' of water in the big bay on the northwest corner. Tried plugs, spoons, cowbe...

Re: NEK Fishing

Congrats, Tire Jockey ... I'm jealous! I love fishing up that way. We always ice fish most of the lakes in the area a couple of times a year and really like getting the boat out on some of them as well. Hope to be up that way for the 4th of July weekend. Are you on Island Pond, or is it a hunting ca...

Congrats again!

Re: Prize Structure for the LCI

That's awesome, SLF! Congrats on some nice fish and a great laker. No idea what the prize breakdown is, though ... sorry. I would hope 4th would get more than $100.

Re: HOT fishing on Caspian

Nice job, Keith! Sounds like you are getting your trolling game dialed in. What were they hitting on? My son and I fished up there 2 months ago and it was slow. We caught 2 small lakers on stick baits. Couldn't find any rainbows. The water was really cold, though, and I figured things would get bett...
