I am going to chalk it up to Darwins Theory of Natural Selection.... kind of like that "Ghost" catfish or that mystery rod stealer known as "Brute" that Matty writes about..... the fish are so mean, fit and ugly they are uncatchable :D

Re: Niagara Bar on fire last week of June!

How far out do you go to find such good fishing? The bar was 50' to 4 miles.... i am no expert on the great lakes but i know it all depends on how the wind effected the water the days before you fished. I think of it as 90% of the fish will be in 10% of the water. Or you can do what i did on the la...

Re: Niagara Bar on fire last week of June!

Can an 18.5 Ft deep V Boat be used on OT. It works ok on Champlain most days but the 4 to 6 Footers are just to much. Doesn't matter what size as each day is different. You have to pay attetion to the marine forecasts and use sites like windfinder.com. the key is to plan a week, pick your days and ...

Re: Shelburne 6/24

Had good luck some days with a size o dodger and a double spin-n-glo rig like the "gambler rig" i made myself. The datilios spoon relax posted awhile back is a killer some days. Glow back with black edge and a tape on top.

As with any lake trout fishing scent is a must'

Re: Shelburne 6/24

No real size to them. Most were in the 6-9lb range with a few small ones. Still can't seem to get into any monsters. Have boated over 100 lakers this year, and only one has cracked 10lb. Thats great. Weird year for us as we never really found lakers in the 60-80 depths during may/june. Ended up fis...

Re: Rotory is a joke

My grandson weighed in a 10.3 lb Laker at the close of Day 2 at Apple Island. When the fish was placed on the scale, the weigh station manager asked us if it was a Salmon or a Trout. She also didn't offer to give us each the 2 signed HIGH FIVE forms that the Rotary said would go with each registrat...

It is time they break up the category and give all three junk fish its due respect. Would get a lot more people involved.

Speaking of sheepshead. Oneida lake just had a 36 pounder weighed in for a possible new state record.
