Re: Omg ch3 and LCI fish handling
I haven't fished the LCI for a while but a few years back we had a big laker and a team ticket. I got a 23" salmon and knew it wasn't a winner but brought it in for the team points. It wasn't fat but was a normal, healthy fish that I brought in alive. The guy at the scale said 1.8 pounds!!!! I ...

Re: Converse Bay May 28
On the water at 6am this morning and had a fish at 6:15. Caught 3 salmon and 3 lakers before 9 and then everything shut down. The wind kicked up and made it hard to keep a bearing and constant speed. The hot lure was a copper honeybee with an orange slash. All the salmon were over 3 pounds and all h...

Re: Shelburne Bay 5/27
This time of year Shelburne bay used to be unreal for salmon. Fifty fish days were not uncommon. There used to be a big push of monnows heading for the Laplatte river that drew the fish in does that still happen? I'd love to fish Shelburne again but it just doesn't seem worth it anymore...like most ...

Re: Hatchery brook
I don't know what's happening but the salmon fishing in Champlain isn't close to as good as it used to be. As much as i love fishing and being on the lake it's hard for me to justify filling my truck and the boat with gas to drive to Champlain and fish for four hours to catch 3 lakers and an 18"...

Re: Where has everyone gone?
I'm one of the guilty ones! Although I don't fish Champlain nearly as much as I used to and take my boat to the Cape around Father's Day. Dave and I fished last Tuesday and had a real day despite a strong north wind. Numerous lakers and one real nice salmon in three hours of fishing.

Charter?
I promised a friend i'd take him out fishing on Champlain a few years ago and he's here in Vermont this week and wanted to go. Unfortunately my boat is on a mooring in Cape Cod. I haven't kept tract of the Charter operations on the lake but what are recommendations for a good charter for salmon and ...

Re: Quick Afternoon Trip
I need to try the dry rub idea! I have always used a wet solution and marinate the laker, salmon or bluefish overnight. I use a cup of soy sauce (instead of salt), a half cup of honey or maple syrup, a cup of white wine, 1 t ground ginger, 1 t black pepper, 1 t garlic powder, and 1T sesame oil. I si...
