Re: Eclipse Salmon

The eclipse was definitely a once in a lifetime for most and to be able to fish through it made it even more special. I had hopes it might have triggered some sort of hot bite which it did, just not what I wanted, MOSQUITOES!!🤣 To happen to have been out in front of your fireworks was a bonus and he...

Eclipse Salmon

I took part of the day off to take my wife and Mistress out on Champlain to catch a few salmon and check out the eclipse. My lady being a fair weather mate we launched a little before 10 when it warmed up a bit which was fine by me because it meant I had my I.T. person aboard who doubles as my good ...

Re: Fish Hawk Show New product release last night!

Holy crap, Crazy Yankee must have a 120 amp alternator AND solar panels to run all those electronics! If someone invented a device that told me WHEN the fish are biting I’d buy in and even go to tech.school to learn how to use it if necessary!

Re: Fish Hawk Show New product release last night!

You definitely have some cool gadgets aboard Digitroll Ron! Interesting they use lithium batteries in submersible probes, we all know what happens when lithium is mixed with water, I guess if you see a geyser behind your boat you’ll know what happened!

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

For what it is worth I bought the Nav chip(no subscription) for my Lowrance Elite 8 yrs ago and it is good for all waterbodies in the continental US and 25 nautical miles offshore east and west coast. I have used it in Champlain, Carmi, Maidstone and the big one, Lake Ontario and the topo is EXTREME...

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Sooo glad you copped to being techno ignorant now I don’t feel alone! I have the ultimate techno solution aboard the Mistress but it only works in warmer weather, like mid April through early October. I can ask ANY question and I’ll get the answer plus is the ultimate good luck charm!!

Re: IS Alewives 3-3024

Alewives do not tolerate big temperature changes and not being native to Champlain a large amount die off in the winter, get trapped under the ice and wash ashore when the ice breaks up. I remember a bulletin F&W put out a few years back, will try to find it and post it.

Re: March Madness

Glad to hear your engine problem was nothing major! Definitely sucks to miss a day on the water, I think any of us who have been fishing for any length of time have been there. I have had a boat and fished Champlain for 38 years and up until last November Frost Bite Shootout had never fished south o...

March Madness

Fished southern waters again today, starting to learn what the fish do with varying weather conditions for the area. Jim and Norm joined me on the Mistress and we launched shortly after 7. Based on the amount of trucks at the access and what we were told by a fellow angler headed back in due to an e...

Re: Proposed Salisbury Hatchery Closing

I have heard back from a few Reps and one Sen (email below) and those who have responded are in favor of keeping the hatchery open. Granted the Reps I reached out to support sportsmen, the fact that Sen Wrenner is onboard is encouraging.

Re: 1st Brown of 2024

A few years back I needed to replace the rubber grips on my release clips, I got some vacuum tubing at O'Reilly's and at the same time picked up some heat shrink tubing to cover them. Just go easy on the heat nearest the jaws so you can still squeeze them.

Re: Hatchery

Since Phil Scott is citing discharge water quality issues I think it is high time we all band together and raise holy hell about what the City of Burlington has been doing to OUR lake the past fifty years. When Bernie Sanders was mayor close to forty years ago Burlington knew their storm and sewer w...

Re: Proposed Salisbury Hatchery Closing

I attended our local Legislative update meeting in Milton this past Saturday and Sen. Irene Wrenner did say the Salisbury Hatchery was on the schedule to discuss/debate this week and she SEEMED to be for keeping it open, although did not come out and say as much. As Mike Covey posted Phil Scott is N...
