Re: 5/4 Fishfest
DYP 2022 w Reelax was my intro to this world. The parameters of the salmon hunt are real and and must be adhered to for targeted success. They are finicky fish and there is a program. That being said, I have a bad case of big bait big fish syndrome. If fishing is slow, why not branch out? Within the...

5/4 Fishfest
Fished w esad out of converse at first light. With only 4 rods we ran 3 downriggers to get us up to 6 lures, and one 2 color leadcore on a board and we were into double digits by 8am. Bright colored sticks and spoons ruled the day, white and pink were best producers. There were a couple of notable m...

Re: Lithium battery
Hi John, I dipped my toe in the lithium pond about a year ago and plan to phase out all the lead acid batteries as a result. The motivation for the change was to reduce weight because I take my batteries out of the boat after each trip, or often carry them some distance to put in the canoe w trollin...

Re: Round 2
That's what they are Scott! Apparently they have suckers on both ends for attachment, but only feed from the small end through a proboscis.
They only had the leech shape when anchored by the tail in the splash well.
Maybe they can be trained to target lamprey?
Look forward to the next time!

Round 1
I was lucky to be invited to fish with Esad this morning on a shakedown trip of sorts. You see, Esad managed to get a screaming good deal on a nice boat with very low hours about a year ago. Since then he has chopped parts out and moved seats around plus added: mast, boards, grill, custom hinged lur...

Re: She did it again!
Wow, nice fish! Esad invited me out on his boat and we saw you in the same area. He landed two undersized salmon and a couple perch, both salmon from the top 20' of water. One of them literally hit the main line while he was attaching the cheater before dropping the ball. It was 75 degrees at the su...

Re: This is why I fish for salmon…..
It was in all other 3 lines off the riggers at one time or another ! When it was tangled on starboard side I tried to steer it to center, instead it went right into being tangled on port side lol! Makes me think of other fish that were a fraction of the size and fight that have been lost in the past...

Re: White perch
Not sure on how wide spread but if i remember correctly they can be a real problem when targeting other species in parts of the inland sea during peak summer.

Re: 2023 DYP Final Results
Thanks Jack for organizing DYP 2023 and well said on why this place is so special! Congrats to the winners! Also big thanks to all those who enter with boat and trust a stranger with their personal gear in deep water. It’s a rare concept in this world, but it appears to be a common thread with those...
