Re: how was fishing this week
Fished all day yesterday in that area, nothing.... We normally do exceptionally well this time of year trolling and jigging for lakers, but not one laker bit or even followed a lure. I did have a 4-5 lb salmon (22-24") on at the end of day while trolling surface (15-25' down over 65-85'); hooke...

Re: Willsboro Lakers 2023
We took our annual 3 day trip from this past Saturday through Tuesday. The weather was volatile to say the least but the fish were there, although not always willing. We found a good number of fish to the North, although the water had a distinct green tint to it. I'm not sure if that was just surfa...

Re: Champlain delivers… again
Congrats! Those are beauties! Nothing wrong with salvaging a trip with that quality of “slimers”. Hey thanks Crayfish! Those slimers are actualy quite tasty if you give them a try. I love to cook, do say 6 days a week for the family, and this recipe and others listed underneath in the link, receive...

First off, I must say, I’m envious and rather pleased to read all of the weekly reports from you all on how the salmon bite is; what to use, how deep, techniques, lures and sometimes even “where” they’re at. For us newbies to Champ, we content ourselves, following many unsuccessful attempts to catch...

@detritus: appreciate the reply/tips.
Ok, you convinced me to participate in the derby!
Watched the Frostbite Shootout video from 2014, and couldn’t resist the food and comradery of the group.

Fishing WIllsboro Bay, tips for fall trout
I haven't been out on the lake since Sept 17, and had a tough time finding active fish that day. Seems like we found little bait on our typical spots with even less active fish around, and only landed 3 fish. Trolled a bunch at different depths (30,50,90") and no action with the exception of on...

Re: Smashing lakers, jigging
You may indeed ask me, and sorry for the tardy reply AvgJoe. I’ve been using 2 ounce Spro jigs (white and green) combined with a 4” orange grub tail, and they seem to have been all over this on several outings. Others in my boat utilized heavy jigging spoons (mackerel style ones) 1 3/4 ounce weight....
