I was out this Monday Tuesday at port douglas. Pretty hot action on flutter spoons (plazma and Sutton 44), 6 colors of lead and Downriggers at 50feet over water 60-90 feet at 1mph. First seemed agressive and were full of alewives hardly any smelt in the 3 we kept. Overall caught 20 lakers over 2 day...

I had the same experience in Westport, water really low at the launch. Lake looks a little low but is this issue at the launches also due to people power loading their boats and causing sediment buildup?

Whitefish was also down 50 feet, and hit on this guy, a stinger scorpion. At that point troll speed was 1.8mph

Westport October 9
Launched around 730am Saturday headed North. Fished the NY side 30-90 feet down using a variety of tackle, staying close to shore. Nothing. Made it to split rock by 1030, got (in order) a smallmouth, yellow perch and white perch all between 50-60 feet down on mooselook (first 2) and stinger scorpion...

Definitely do the gear case oil, don't just pull the plug because if there is ANY moisture in there it will start to rust.
