Re: how was fishing this week
Had the same experience as Red. Fished yesterday, Sunday. Normally do pretty well jigging especially this time of year. The fish are usually somewhat predictable once you hone in on the depth. Tried all my normal spots and a couple new ones. Marked hardly anything, had a couple short follows, but no...

Re: Smashing lakers, jigging
I have nevere been able to find good information from NYS DEC. I only know from their web site where they say only some fish are fin clipped and what I observe on one river. So it may be that the LT are clipped. Would like to know. I doubt I am more in tune on the lake, you got out a few more times ...

Re: Smashing lakers, jigging
Glad you had a good year. I was jigging lake trout yesterday and caught several in the 27-31" range. In fact I only caught one under 20". The last time I was out, 2 weeks ago, I was catching them at 105-110 feet. Yesterday I started at that depth and and had no luck for almost 2 hours. Eve...

Re: New lake record Salmon?
Not sure how that works for Lake Champlain. Lake record yes, but what part of the lake was it caught in Vermont or NYS. NYS record for Atlantic Salmon is 24lb from Lake Ontario.

Re: Westport and north and docking boat at launch
Not to be biased but I bet if they ever did a survey of boat launching etiquette they would find that fisherman are by far the best and by a wide margin. Not just being courteous but also the skill to get in out out of the launch in a reasonable time. How many times have we been caught behind a recr...

Re: Boat Fishing Etiquette
They were very polite and doing their job. The timing was just real bad for me. Plus they do ask if they can board. Don't think you really have a choice. In the long run it is goood to know they are out their checking people. Have had the VT Fish and Wildlife check me numerous times. Very polite and...

Re: Boat Fishing Etiquette
I get it bass fishing, for instance that magical accepted distance is much smaller. But LT fishing on LC as Reelax says, it just is unneccessary to crowd anyone. There have been many time someone was already in the general area I want to fish. I just move off further away if that is the case and fin...

Re: Boat Fishing Etiquette
I live 15 minutes form the state launch at MDB on LG but now drive the 1.5 hours to Westport beacuse I can't take the circus. That plus quite honestly the fishing is better.

Boat Fishing Etiquette
Ran into a situation yesterday. Maybe I am just being a grumpy semi-old man but thought I would run it by people here. Launched out of Westport yesterday and was fishing in Town Farm Bay, I have a few spots in there that are my favorites. Usually I troll, targeting lake trout, but lately especially ...

Re: They're Back
Fished out of Westport today. Found them sometiomes, not eveywhere. I have not fished LC near as long as you guys but it sure seems they are showing up earlier every year. When I first started at LC about 6 years ago they did not show until August.

Re: It’s still on
When I left early Saturday Afternoon it was really starting to blow pretty good. May be that wind turned the water over some and knocked the fleas down too. Or I was just in the wrong spot.

Re: It’s still on
Wow that temp is crazy. I fished Saturday morning out of Westport, dropped the Fishhawk down and did not hit 49 until 120 feet down. Pretty consistent in the two or three spots I checked. Mostly washed lures in the few hours I tried. I made the mistake of not changing my line out to 30 pound and the...
