Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Matt (Dry Net). Depending on what you have for a unit, the Navionics chip will most likely have far better, more detailed maps than what you have on the FF. I've been living without it for a long time, and am just now making the move to the 21st century. I'm not sure it's needed, but will be nice to...

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

That's what I was seeing, Matt (Reelax), when researching. I needed IOS 13 or Android 7 to run the app. It was cheaper to get an Android unit with 7+ than an Apple with 13+. Is there a way to "screen share" between the phone and tablet? You could just run Nav on the phone and see it on the...

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Wait.........I am kinda techo ignorant. Does that puck require cell service.....? So like Shawn if I don't have a tablet, I should get one with cell, correct ? That is my understanding, John. If you have any tablet already then the puck will work to add GPS. If buying new, you’ll need to be sure wh...

In “with boat”. As I said, if the numbers don’t work out, I’d be glad to jump in with someone else.

Can’t wait!

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

That’s a neat gadget, Ahhspray! I hadn’t seen those before. If I already had a tablet, that would be the way to go. I’ve got my stuff on order. I went with the cheapest Samsung Tab 8.5” I could find that had cell. I think it was around $120.

Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Re: Walleye help

John, I fish them in the Lamoille and Winooski every year, but am far from an expert. I have a 14' boat that I typically use for river fishing, usually dragging worms on bottom and using the oars to keep the boat straight. This is easier to do with 1 person in the boat, but my son and I used to do i...

Can't wait!! I'm the one holding the scale with Dilly Worm's fish on it in Jack's picture. I'll sign up "With Boat", but would gladly jump on with someone else if the numbers don't work out right. We had a blast last year, I believe we caught 9 salmon ... just not quite big enough.

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Hi Ron, which of the cheaper Amazon tablets have GPS? I only see it on the newest $150 ones. Most of them say "location based services via WiFi" or something like that.

Thanks

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Right, good point on the polarized glass issue! I hate that with the fishfinders! Thanks for the info.

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Yeah, I'll have to find something like that for an iPad. I've seen them with rubber clamps ... I think that would work. I'm planning on revamping my electronics this year. I've got a nice fishfinder that has been relegated to GPS/mapping duties and am using an old crappy fishfinder as the actual ff....

Re: Saturday in the northern fleet

Great looking setup, Esad! You did a nice job.

Along with John’s question, what would folks recommend for a mount if I don’t have a glass windshield? My plastic windshield wouldn’t hold up to that. I’d like to find a good mount that I can screw down.

Congrats and thanks in advance!

Re: Rod storage from launch to troll

Not sure if you have a splash well, but I just have PVC tubes across the splash well for holding rods. They work great and the rods are vertical so there is no chance of them slipping out when under power.

Re: Lead core setup

I'm using a skinny version of lead core, and I couldn't get the Willis knot to work. The double-Uni that Dilly posted works perfectly. I bought 1 - 10 color spool and setup 2 - 1 color rods (~5' deep), 1 - 3 color (~15' deep) and 1 - 5 color (~25' deep). Now I realize I only really use lead in the s...
