Re: Inland Sea

Thanks for the report. The temperatures are still completely messed up in the IS. I checked it the other day and found 59deg at 100'! No thermocline at all. I did manage to catch a 19" salmon 65' down, so there are a few around. That fish came after 2 skunk trips, though. Been doing more warm w...

Re: Best way to remove water fleas

If they aren't too bad, sometimes you can dip your rod tip into the water a foot or so and then rip it up out of the water several times. You have to do this before they get jammed up at the rod tip. This works great for spiny water fleas .... not so great for fishhook fleas, or whatever the persist...

Re: Inshore Tuna NH!

Great story, Keith! The first is always the hardest. From here on out they will seem "easy", if there is such a thing out there.

I've been out tuna fishing with another guy a couple of times. No luck then, but we did hook into some HUGE sharks. Fun times.

Good luck!

Re: They are getting bigger..

Do you know what the temperature profile looks like in the Outer Bay, Big Bear? My last trip to the Inland Sea the water temp was 60 on the surface and 57deg 75' down! The other day my buddy was out by the Cowbanks and had the same temps. He picked up and headed north to Hyde Pt and had to run his p...

Re: Willsboro water

Sounds like a fun couple of days! At least you can catch lakers while waiting on the silvers. I've been skunked the last 2 trips to the Inland Sea .... with no lakers to keep me busy. Makes for some boring trolls. Still better than sitting around the house, or worse ... being at work! Switched to wa...

Re: Blow day up the river…..

Way to make the most of a blow day! Those are some tank smallies, and they are a ball to catch. My son and I chased whatever was biting on Saturday and ended up catching some good smallies ... despite the fact that there was a bass derby going on. Caught a few that the tourny guys would have LOVED t...

Re: They are getting bigger..

Nice to see some salmon coming from the Outer Bay! Good job, Big Bear!

It costs me a lot more to get TO the water than it does to fish for the day. That's the trouble with living 1/2+hr from the lake.

Re: Tommy Dubrow / Mike Morin / Jeff Light / Lucas Sweeny: LCI Salmon top ten

Congrats everyone! Timmy, I was surprised to see the #1 salmon checked in at Plattsburgh. Good job finding that unicorn! And congrats C-hawk on your “sea” fish, as well!

Re: Brown

The lake record got set a couple more times last year. It is now 11lbs 3oz. I caught a 10lb brown last year and didn't realize what I had. Should have got it weighed officially. Didn't matter, though, because a guy beat it TWICE a couple of weeks later!

Congrats again!

Re: Fishing community looses another Legend

I was just thinking about Jim the other day as I was hooking one of his lures to my line. I hadn't seen any updates on his health in a while and was wondering how he was doing. What a shame and a great loss to our beloved sport. I'll be keeping Jim and his family in my prayers.

Re: Westport Tuesday evening

Nice job! Those good sized salmon can be quite interesting when you are solo! I caught a 24"er last year by myself. That thing put on a show, jumping 5-6 times within 10-15' of the boat. Fun times.

Re: Fish on cheaters

I hear you, Jack. In the spring when everyone is running 100' ++ setbacks off boards, I've had salmon grab the lure on the surface as I'm letting it out 10' behind the boat! You just never know. I do believe that if you are catching most of your fish on cheaters that you are fishing beneath them wit...

Re: Personal best Lake Champlain Brown

Doug told me to dampen a towel and wrap the fish in that, then in a plastic bag. My son's 10" pumpkinseed came out great! And it's nice that you finally get to see "Charlie" again, Matt. Congrats on that beauty! Those salmon and that laker are huge! Now I see what a lake-record laker ...
