Steelhead

Saw our boys hard at work today stocking 16,000 or so steelhead. Fun to watch and exciting to know that in another year or two some will be a catchable size!! It's a video, click on it if you care to see it.

Nice pike

Managed to get this big girl onto the ice today. 34 inches and my best fish ever through the ice. Caught it on Champlain on a tip up with 8 pound test, no steel leader, a #10 hook and a fathead perch minnow that couldn't have been more than an inch and a half long. Wow what fun!!!! http://i1222.phot...

Master Angler perch!!

My first Master Angler fish of the year. A nice fat Champlain yellow belly that came in right at 13 inches. Caught on a tip up with a fathead. Managed 8 or 10 other smaller ones, 3 northerns, lots of flags with nobody home and another slob of a perch that measured 12 inches. Fun day today!! http://i...

Champlain bite

The bite was a little slow today. Couldn't seem to find any good numbers of fish so I had to make my own.

I got into a few nice perch myself. Did you get them jigging or on tipups?

Re: Steelhead

I recognize that rod and reel. I saw it in action one day last year and I must say you're a very talented guy. Awesome technique you have with that rod, can't say I've ever seen anything like it. Glad to see its paying off!!!

Midstate Sports closing

I am sad to report that Midstate Sports on Rt. 7 in Ferrisburgh is closing its doors. Most everything is 35% off so there are some good deals to be had. Auctioneers are handling the sale and they'll be running it every Thursday, Friday and Saturday (not sure about Sunday??) until December 2nd. Fortu...

Master angler largemouth

Was out casting for smallies, and doing quite well with good numbers of fish between 14 and 16 inches, and all of a sudden I hook into this guy. Right at 20 inches and my first ever master angler fish. YAY!!!

Re: Steelheads ??

Yes, they're stocking yearlings right now, little six inch fish. I stopped by the falls in North Ferrisburgh after work the other day and there were a bunch of them trying to swim up the falls. A bunch of six inch torpedos flying out of the water and crashing down into the rapids. Wicked cool!!!

Re: Busy tying

Matt, you're doing a great job, those flies look nice!! Crowding the eye was my biggest problem for years. You just have to keep in mind that you are securing 3 or 5 or however many different materials to the head and if you try and stack them all at the same place all those materials build up and y...

Found: camera memory card

I found a memory card from someones camera on the boat ramp at the Lewis Creek access last night. I didn't want to put someones picture on here without permission, but if anyone recognizes this dog or house I would love to return the card to the rightful owner. Send me a PM if anyone runs across any...

Re: Perseverance pays off 3/2

Well done Matt!! Love that second fish you got, has that nice fresh chrome look to it. Don't forget about that black stonefly pattern you have there, there's lots of them hatching this time of year.
