Re: Round Gobies
There are several ways to look at this situation, both "pro" and "con", but the fact is - the gobies are non-native and will change the lake fishery - we saw it with the alewives - yes, nature will adapt to whatever degree she is capable, but not having to adapt is a better scena...

Round Gobies
To: All my Frost Bite friends – there is a looming problem for the Lake Champlain fishery that if left unacted upon, will have significant negative impacts. The issue is Round Gobies. Round Gobies are native to Eurasia and were introduced to the Great Lakes in the mid-90’s through ballast water from...

Westport - 1/7
Well, I trusted the weatherman and have the "black & blues" to prove it! Marine forecast said - "AM less than 1 foot, building to 1 ft. after 1PM" - when Scott and I got to Westport around 8, there was a stiff ENE wind pushing waves up into the ramp - but not so bad that we g...

Happy New Year!!!! Scott and I launched from Westport - we decided that we'd give the Fishville lakers a break. Ran straight across the lake to SB and set-up on the south end - just got #4 rod out when dipsy went off, as a nice laker came over the rail the starboard rigger fired - another feisty lak...

Fishville is still "land of the Lakers" Don and I launched at 8 and were lines down by 8:30 - it was cool with a slight chop, but warmer than ice fishing weather so we were OK with it. As happened on Sunday it took a few minutes to find the fish, but when we did - YeHaw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aga...

Fishville was the home of "Unlimited Lakers" yesterday. Scott and I got to PH launch about 8AM and were lines down at 8:35 - lake was flat calm and stayed that way all day. started on the NY side of Fishville and washed lures for 45 minutes - huh, what's going on? Notice the boat that laun...

Launch Report
Anyone know what the launches at Port Henry and Westport are like? Cleared out?
I plan on fishing tomorrow, called Norm's and he said they had 4" of wet snow - wondering what the ramps are like.
Thx Ed aka Chessieman

Re: Salmon and lakers
Way to go! That's a real calm lake - wish I had been there - those fish look good in the boat, and I bet they'll look even better coming out of the smoker or off the grill

I was back at it again yesterday on a solo - and I really wish I'd had Scott or Dave or somebody with me because driving and catching at the same time was a bit challenging for me yesterday in the chop. But the good thing was I was catching. Not as many salmon as last week - 8 only - BUT lotsa laker...
