Re: Annual Coast Guard Aux. inspection
When the kids were younger and home, they participated in every inspection! Now they are NAVY, and I have to do it myself!

Re: Lamprey Pictures?
Correction: 6-7" lamprey: I've shared a few pictures with Shawn Good at VT F&W, and he suspects "Those could be Bouquet R. sea lamprey, or one of the smaller tribs along the Port Henry shoreline. As fast as we try to suppress them on our 4-year treatment cycle, they pop right back up s...

Re: Round 2
Joe - You are correct. The small inch long parasites that look like lamprey larva are jawless leeches. More specifically Piscicola geometra. While I thought all leeches are smooth skinned, there is a whole class of segmented ones. We saw a bunch on the salmon yesterday. Harmless. I enjoyed sharing t...

Lamprey Pictures?
If anyone has 2024 pictures of salmon with multiple lamprey hits (or multiple lamprey still attached) please post them or send them to me and let me know approximately where it was taken. Fish and wildlife says these 6-7 lamprey are first year fish and they are trying to determine which river they a...

Another great day on the Reelax! Catching started quick, and got quicker! We ate well. It was a great shakedown trip for me. The radio "smack talk" and shared information made it really feel like the Frostbite Fleet was coming alive. It was good to see a full parking lot!

Chad - Hang in there. I missed most of last season with back fusion surgery. I've also had several shoulder surgeries following a collegiate rugby injury. The fish are waiting, and you'll get time on the water. Follow your rehab, and soon enough! Take care!

Re: 50 Hand Tied Flies
Those Golden Stoneflies will fish! Wooly Buggers will be good for much, but especially good for Lewis Creek smallmouth in May and Winooski browns early season. The Clouser looks to be well done. But I don't see 50?! I've been tying a bunch myself lately, but mostly trout stuff.

Re: Lewis Creek Steelhead
Thank you for sharing your interesting thoughts and experience. It certainly makes sense that a "5-6 mos drop back season" in the lake won't provide enough growth to see bigger fish in the system if they are not feeding heavily while in the rivers. You mention Chambers Creek and Memphremag...

Re: Lewis Creek Steelhead
Estaz stone! Nice fly (and fall color.) Great fish! Fishfarmer, given your background can I ask a question?: This fish has a big head suggesting maturity, but why aren't we seeing lake run trout that are longer and heavier? Too few to sample? Not enough forage? Or are these fish spending more time i...
